Welcome to The 3D Show – Introduction

What is up everyone? My name is Sebastian Grado, and welcome to the introduction video of The 3D Show.

Now, what is The 3D Show? It’s two things:

First, it’s about the democratization of the knowledge of point clouds. We provide 3D laser scanning services through our family business, iScano. If you’re on our page, I’d really appreciate it if you took a look. Essentially, it’s to understand what kind of data we provide and how we can help anyone in the AECO world—architects, engineering, construction, and owners—in their day-to-day work leveraging this type of technology and data.

Second, it’s about building the reality capture space and exploring how we can incorporate reality capture technology into AECO workflows and beyond, getting past the pyrotechnics and diving into the nitty-gritty. Understand what coordination tools exist, and how reality capture—laser scanning, photogrammetry, drone data—helps you today.

Throughout this page and introduction video, we’ve compiled episodes talking about reality capture technology. Whether we talk to specialists, discuss it ourselves, or explore it in an attic or on-site, we’re here to help you—the user, pioneer, or implementer—bring this technology into your workspace. But to do that effectively, you must understand how it works. That’s exactly why we’re here.

We take methodologies, apply those methodologies, and then create actual deliverables based on those methodologies. That means we have real experience. Personally, coming from a family business, we’ve worked with Trimble, Faro, Leica, subsidiaries of Autodesk, and other similar companies. We bring experience from both the hardware and software worlds, understanding precisely how to leverage these technologies into everyday workflows.

We’re not here to discuss pyrotechnics or how cool the technology is. Instead, we’re here to explore how organizations interact with these technologies today and consider what they can do tomorrow with the data they have. The beauty is that this is an open discussion—not just me speaking to a camera, but inviting questions, ideas, and dialogue. We’re here to learn together.

I’m passionate about reality capture. Beyond nerding out, I genuinely love listening and understanding what’s happening in the space. I’ll bring all my experience. I have nearly a decade of experience, starting from Montreal and working across North America. It’s a unique experience, but a privilege nonetheless.

I’ve worked closely with family in the field, learning how to conduct surveys, perform 3D laser scanning, and utilize photogrammetry in various projects. My role often involves speaking directly with customers and colleagues. We’ve worked across numerous industries in AECO, from Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies to small mom-and-pop engineering and architectural firms—some of whom use this technology even better than larger corporations. Each uses it differently, but all strive toward a single solution to improve workflows, reduce costs, and enhance ROI and RLR.

That’s our goal: to understand market trends and relay that information to you, whether you’re trying to grasp reality capture or are simply curious and looking for more information.

Thank you very much for watching this video. If you have any questions, please reach out to us via the iScano website right here, or connect through email, LinkedIn, YouTube, or Instagram. We’ll release videos bi-weekly, with additional segments weekly. Expect between 20 to 40 videos, depending on how the content evolves.

Ultimately, I want to talk to you—the current users, future adopters, and those leveraging this technology daily—to enhance workflows and experiences around you.

This is a community. We’re here to collaborate, talk, learn, and have fun.

My name is Sebastian. Welcome to the first episode—the introduction video of The 3D Show. I’ll see you super, super soon.

Au revoir, ciao ciao, talk to you later everyone. Cheers!

Personal Thoughts:

I’m really excited about this first episode! Sharing our family’s experience and the potential of reality capture technology with the AECO community is something I truly enjoy. There’s so much to explore, and I can’t wait to take these next steps with you all. Let’s dive into this journey together! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions 🙂
